Keepers of Twilight
The Soft Edge of Midnight
After a horrible ordeal and lengthy captivity, Illori Swain is resigned to
wither her life away in loneliness. Then she meets Karsten Morris,
a male unicorn she has been searching for, the other half of her
soul.
A man of worth and a stallion of breeding, Karsten Morris sees Illori as his salvation, the love he’s searched for all his life. The luck and light that
rule their existence finally bring them together, but everything worthwhile is tested, and fate isn’t against making the good suffer.
After escaping her captivity, free from the bonds of hell that held
her, Illori is now hunted by two of Hell’s minions.
One, Sammael, a fallen angel with one foot in Heaven, is set on the scent by Lucifer
himself. The other, Nybras, is a devil vying for Sammael’s job. Nybras will stop at nothing to get what he thinks he
deserves.
When the devil cheats to gain his prize, Sammael must join forces with Karsten to
save the mare Illori to make sure the balance of the verses are not compromised.

REVIEWS
for The Soft Edge of Midnight
[Keepers of
Twilight]
4.5 Hearts:
Once again these authors took me on an
epic journey filled with suspense, hot
sex, fantastical beings, more hot sex and
mystery. Illori and Karsten meet early in
the book but their journey home to
Glimmer, if they can get there, is fraught
with roadblocks, pitfalls, and downright
evil creatures who don’t want to see them
succeed. They do make some friends along
the way that may be able to help them, but
only as long as it’s in their own
interests to do so. Evil forces want to
see the Unicorns dead; others want to see
them succeed. I was swept along for this
very enjoyable ride to the very end. —Night
Owl Romance
4.5 Stars: "Using their own
unique, incredible, and fertile
imagination, Stella and Audra Price have
penned another tale, The Soft Edge of
Midnight, set in their Eververse
world. This is a delightful book in which
to immerse yourself. Karsten is a strong
talking man and used to taking control. He
never dreamed he would find his mate.
Illori had spent years in captivity and is
still recovering, but still has a lot of
spunk left in her. The secondary
characters really contribute to the wonder
of this tale. Sammael, for all his
shortcomings, still manages to work his
way into our hearts. Stella and Audra
Price have penned another winner with
The Soft Edge of Midnight. Pick this
one up and prepare to be delighted and
entranced." —Elise Lyn, Ecataromance
4 Cups: "I loved the beautiful
romance that stirred between Illori and
Karsten. I could really sense the strong
love that Karsten emitted for Illori. She
is powerful in her actions making The
Soft Edge of Midnight a fantastic
read. With a hot witch, a Fey and some
devils thrown into the picture to make the
read even more intriguing; Stella and
Audra Price create a sizzling fast-paced
story that is very enchanting." —Cherokee,
Coffee Time Romance
4 Stars: "A stud is a stud no
matter what his real form. Karsten is all
male and his Unicorn tendencies of being
overly protective of his female and his
desire to keep her from all harm make him
the ultimate in Alpha males. Illori is no
slouch herself. Escaping from a demon
lord, fighting to protect herself and her
mate so that they don’t end up back in
hell, and she knows what she desires most
in life. The two together are so hot there
is steam rising off the pages. They are
witty, smart and the authors have done an
excellent job having them play off each
other. The supporting characters are also
well developed and I can’t wait for what
must be spin off stories of Sammael, who
plays both sides of Heaven and Hell, and
Gabriel (yes the angel), whose only charge
is to keep Sammael out of falling onto
Hell’s side completely. The two of them
make for perfect sparring partners for
each other and great foils to Karsten and
Illori. The story is fast paced and keeps
the reader active and enjoying every word.
The sex for all involved is hot and heavy
and with a little bondage thrown in by
Sammael for the good of the order.
Definitely a recommended read." —Brigit
Aine, Just Erotic Romance Reviews
4 Moons:
"The Soft Edge of Midnight is an enjoyable,
erotic, paranormal romance which takes place in a unique world and contains
intriguing characters. The world of this book is filled with the fallen, angels,
and beings from the glimmer, who were trapped on the human side and most of the
characters can't be pigeon-holed into good or evil categories. Illora and Karstan are two lonely souls who find each
other, but their path to happiness is fraught with obstacles. While Illora and
Karstan are good characters, my favorite character is Sam, the reluctant hero. I
really hope to see Sammuel's story soon! All in all, The Soft Edge of Midnight is an
entertaining read, which I recommend."
—Marlene Breakfield, Mystique Books
4 Roses:
"The story was well written. The descriptions were well done and
the parlay between characters was
entertaining. It was an enjoyable pastime.
If you enjoy the innocence of youth mixed
with the erotic pastimes of adulthood then
this is the story for you."
—Coale, My Book Cravings
"The
Soft Edge of Midnight is one of the first unicorn shape-shifter stories I
have read. Unicorns are known for having a huge amount of luck, but I found that
Illori and Karsten had Lady Luck playing a here "now and gone again" game with
them. Illori finally begins to believe that luck has come back to her by leading
her to the last remaining male unicorn on this plane and Karsten just knows that
he is going to do his best to mate immediately with Illori. There was no way I
could not grow to love both Illori and Karsten as they fought to have their
future together. I have come to know that nothing in the Price sisters' books
comes easy and their mating was coming too easy, so I was not surprised when not
only did they have a problem, but huge problems with one of Hell’s hunters and
another minion. The Soft Edge of Midnight is a softer and a more romantic
book than I have come to expect, but it still held that edge of violence and a
mixture of characters I have come to expect and love. If you have not
experienced any of the world that the Price sisters have created and are unsure,
I believe this is a great place to start."

EXCERPT
He scented the air once more, and the smell was too pure to be a
half-breed. After all this time? Now when he was at his
lowest? He turned heel and followed, not sure which she was. The
scents of the perfume the others wore were getting in the way of
the sweet, pure cloying scent he desired with every fiber of his
Unicorn soul.
They broke off a block down, and it was only then that he could single the
mare out. Tall, leggy, long blonde hair with strawberry streaks
through the back, and a scent that floored him. His cock ached
and pulsed behind the zipper of his pants. His body knew, and it
raged to take her. What a lone mare was doing in Glasgow at the
same time as he was couldn’t be put off as anything but pure
damn luck, and it seemed it was finally with him. He followed
close enough to scent her, to keep that devastatingly amazing
smell in his nostrils, but not so close to spook her. The last
thing he needed was to lose her.
She turned and went into a small sweet shop, and he grinned. She has a
sweet tooth? Well, we will have to see just what kind of sweets
she craves, won’t we? His mind was awash with sensation,
and he fought the urge to follow her and lost. The mare might be
his mate. After all this time, a mate.
Resigning to meet her, he walked into the shop a minute after her and
watched her, seeing her gravitate toward the licorice. Karsten
grinned as she picked up a package of red laces and sour punch
straws. So, she likes it sweet, eh? Bet she tastes like she
smells, all sugary.
His heart thudded in his chest, and instinct guided him. He went to her
with a sincere smile on his face. He went up behind her and
inhaled her scent once more, finally speaking into her ear, over
her shoulder. “Sweet tooth? All that sugar is bad for your
teeth, love, though I bet it makes you taste amazing.”
She jumped startled, nearly dropping the bag. Recovering, she turned
quickly to face him, her eyes wide as they darted over him. She
took a deep breath, scenting the air. “I...” She blinked at
him.
“Name’s Karsten, and yours?”
“Illori,” she provided, looking him over once more.
“Illori.” He breathed her name. She was it, a mare, in her full power,
and still a virgin. She was ripe for him, just for him. His
instinct and propriety warred within him. Instinct told him to
seduce her and mark her, to make them both complete. His
propriety demanded he not accost her in a sweet shop. He
listened to the latter. There was plenty of time for the former
once she realized what he was. “Beautiful name for a beautiful
mare,” he said low and growling, lust lacing his voice. His
body was a taut string, and everything he was reacted to her and
her nearness.
She yelped, fearfully taking a step back as if trying to figure out just
what he was. She avoided his eyes submissively, her breathing
hard. She clearly liked his scent. “I’m not sure what you
mean... Karsten.”
“Oh, Illori, I think you know exactly what I mean, though I bet you have
never encountered a stallion before. At least I hope you
haven’t.” She wasn’t marked and her purity was still in
tact. If she’d met a stallion before, then the man was truly a
fool for letting such a beauty slip away. He grinned and nodded.
“Forgive me, I fear I might be scaring you. My name is Karsten
Morris, and you are a sight for sore eyes.”
Her breath caught in her throat, and she shook her head. Her hair fanned
around her, releasing more of her scent to him. She met his eyes
with a gasp. “Truly?” she asked, stepping into him. She
placed her nose to his neck and inhaled deeply, which drew a
moan from her.
“Your body knows it’s true, trust me.” He smiled at her and took the
candy from her hands. “Let's get this paid for and go somewhere
and talk, okay?” he said in a low voice, though talking was
the last thing on his mind. Getting the mare under him, marking
her, that was all he saw in his head. His cock twitched in its
prison, and trying everything in his power to retain composure,
he ignored it.
She smiled shakily at him. “Okay.”
He touched her face, feeling the prickle of energy that said she was
special to him, that she could be one of his. He turned and went
to the counter, picking up the candy, along with a can of
vanilla frosting with the fancy tip. Karsten was nothing if not
opportunistic, but he didn’t let the mare see what he was
doing. The clerk packaged everything, and Karsten paid for it.
Turning back to Illori, in a partial daze, he smiled. Per
courtship, it was up to her to make the next move.
“Somewhere to talk?” she suggested, coming out of her thoughts. “The
green’s pretty this time of year, but it is cold. We could go
for coffee, but lunchtime’s over, so we wouldn’t gain much
privacy. My apartment’s close by, if you want to go there? It
wouldn’t be too long a walk.”
Yes, her apartment. His mind ran through a hundred different things
he could do to her in her apartment, all with the same ending,
her naked, sweaty, and wearing his mark.
