ABOUT MARISA
Marisa Chenery was
always a lover of books, but after reading her first
historical
romance novel, she found herself hooked. Having inherited a
love for the written word,
she soon started writing her own novels.
After trying her hand at writing historicals, she now
also writes paranormals. Marisa lives in Ontario, Canada
with her husband and four children. She would love to hear
from you, so stop by her website and send her an email while
you're there.
INTERVIEW
Q: When did you know you wanted to be a writer?
A: I was seventeen when I decided I wanted to try my hand at
writing. At the time, I didn't own a computer or even a
typewriter so I ended up writing it on three ringed lined paper.
I never did finish that book, and I still have it sitting in a
binder down in my basement. It wasn't until I was in my thirties
did I seriously take up writing again.
The very first book I wrote was Lady Knight,
which will be published here at Siren. And I actually hand wrote
it all on coil ring notebooks before typing it on my computer.
Q: How often do you write?
A: I usually write everyday when I have a work in process. Most
days I can write twice a day for about an hour to two hours each
time. Sometimes it doesn't work out and I may only write once.
Being a stay at home Mom to four children, finding time for
myself can sometimes come at a premium. Once I've finished a
book I tend to give myself some time off from writing for a week
or two to brainstorm the next story I have in my head.
Q: What is your favorite genre to write?
A: When I first started writing I was really into historicals.
Now, I have to say my favorite are paranormals.
Q: Who are some of your favorite authors to read?
A: I have quite a few authors I really love to read, but I do
have three who are my favorite—Mary Janice Davidson, Sherrilyn
Kenyon and Karen Marie Moning. I've read just about every book
those authors have written.
Q: What do you do with your spare time?
A: Besides writing, I love to read. If it wasn't for the library
I would be poor. If I don't have a book to read everyday I start
to feel a little lost. I also like to go to the gym a couple
times of week. I've done weight training for over twenty years.
I call gym workouts my sanity breaks. Slugging around weights is
a great stress reliever I've found. |
