ABOUT KRIS
A
military brat to the core, Kris Cook
never put down deep roots in any
particular geographic location. Until
Texas. Why? Kris loves the sun.
A voracious reader, Kris loves many
genres of fiction, but this writer’s
favorite books are romances that are
edgy, sexy, with rich characters and
unique challenges. Kris’ influences
include JR Ward, Lora Leigh, and Shayla
Black.
Kris has won and placed in several
writing contests in the past couple of
years.
Kris’ motto: I like cooking up really
hot books for my readers. The hotter,
the better.

INTERVIEW
Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself.
A: I love the sun, that’s why I live in
Texas. I’m nuts about animals. Every pet
I’ve ever had, I have adopted from the
SPCA. Mexican food and margaritas are
some of my weaknesses. Oh, and Thai
food, too. Age? Not telling. (Laughing)
Q: What other jobs have you had,
besides writing?
A: I waited tables while in college. I
worked as a radio announcer. I sold real
estate. I worked at a telephone company.
Q: When did you start writing?
A: Like most authors, I started writing
at a very young age. The first story I
wrote was about a mother who was turned
into a vampire, and loved her children
so much that she staked herself rather
than jeopardize them. I can’t remember
what I titled it, but I was very proud
of it. The second story got me in
trouble.
Q: And….?
A: In fifth grade, I wrote Spiders are
Sweeter than Teachers for a writing
assignment.
Q: What grade did you get for the
paper?
A: I got an A, but my parents had to
meet with my teacher.
Q: That didn’t stop you writing?
A: Hey, I got an A.
Q: Why do you enjoy writing erotic
romance?
A: I not only enjoy writing erotic
romance, I enjoy reading it. Shayla
Black, Lora Leigh, Jaid Black, Jaci
Burton, and Leah Brooke have provided me
hours of enjoyment with their incredible
books.
Q: Do you think erotic romance
stands equally with other genres?
A: Absolutely! In fact, I think with all
the electronic readers getting more
affordable erotic romance will continue
to accelerate to gain more audience.
Great fiction is great fiction. The
books of the authors I mentioned earlier
deliver original stories with amazing
characters and interesting plots. And,
yes, they are very sexy. With the books
I write, I hope to bring my characters
to life for readers as clearly as these
authors did for me.
Q: Do your characters take on a
life of their own?
A: (Laughing) Oh, yes. A great example
is Bradley, the angel warrior in the
first book of my Eternally Three series,
Perfection. I’d wanted him to be less
wary of Jared, the disgraced jinn. Every
time I tried to write him that way, I
felt as if he stood behind me shaking
his head violently in the negative. So,
he won. That may sound crazy, but
characters often tell a writer what to
write.
Q: Speaking of your series,
Eternally Three, how did you come up
with the idea?
A: I’m a nut for anything paranormal:
romance, young adult, mainstream. I read
JR Ward, Sherrilyn Kenyon, JK Rowling,
Stephenie Meyer, Anne Rice and more. I
always wanted to attempt a paranormal
series. During one of my lunches with my
good friend, Shayla Black, I presented
my idea for E3. I’m certain I consumed
several tons of salads, burgers, tacos,
and sandwiches, as she helped me flesh
out the concept to what it is today.
Q: Can you tell us more about
Eternally Three?
A: There’s so much to tell. The immortal
males are alpha to the max, and uber-sexy.
An important element of the series is
that immortals need humans to survive.
Like the laws of electricity there needs
to be three elements to accomplish the
power exchange: postive, negative,
conduit. In E3, that means angel, jinn,
and human for the Alliance, or, if part
of the Dark: demon, ifrit, and human.
And, yes, that means tripling.
Q: You also write contemporary
erotic romance.
A: I do, and I love it. I can’t imagine
writing two E3 books back to back. I
like getting my head back in the real
world with my contemporary books. Plus,
they’re typically novellas, which are
really fun to write and challenge me in
different ways.
Q: Anything else you’d like to
share?
A: I’d like to invite everyone to visit
my website, www.KrisCook.net.
