ABOUT JENIKA
Jenika
lives in the Northeast with her husband
Jason, their energetic daughter, and a
spunky cat named Milo. She started
writing at an early age, when her first
real story consisted of a little girl
who found a magical doll. Since then her
stories have changed quite a bit, with
her passion being the vampire genre.
When not writing a story or reading the
latest novel by a favorite author,
Jenika enjoys photography,
scrap-booking, interior design, and
gardening (even though she despises
those creepy crawlies in the ground).
Jenika loves cold, dreary days, when the
rain is coming down and the sun is
nowhere to be seen—those are her
favorite days to create a new story.
Jenika loves to hear from readers. Stop
by her website or send her an email.
INTERVIEW
Q: How did you begin writing?
A: I can’t say an exact date, but
remember the first real story I had
written as a child about a girl who
found a magical doll. I started to read
a lot, many of the stories being romance
with paranormal elements involved. I
read so many talented authors that I
dreamed of writing a story that could be
publishable. After reading so many
novels, I thought one day, “Hey, I think
I could write a story like this.” After
that thought I didn’t really pursue my
dream, until one day my husband told me
to give it a shot. So here I am, having
my first story being published with
Siren. I hope the readers enjoy the
stories as much as I enjoyed creating
them.
Q: What is your writing dream?
A: Well, becoming a published author is
a dream come true in itself , but if I
had to think of the biggest dream come
true I would have to say having one of
my stories become a movie. I am sure
many authors dream of that, I might be
stretching it a bit, given the genre of
my writing. I would love to see the
characters in my stories, the ones I
have grown to love on the big screen. It
may be a stretch to desire something
that could very well never happen, but
then again that is why they call them
dreams.
Q: Who is your favorite author?
A: Ah, well that is a hard question. I
have so many favorite authors that
create amazing stories. If I had to
choose a couple (because one just
wouldn’t be enough) I would have to say
Wally Lamb, J.R. Ward, Kresely Cole, and
Lora Leigh. Those of course are only the
topping to the many great authors that
are out there.
Q: Do you write full-time?
A: I wish, but alas, no, I don’t. I have
a small child to take care or, a
full-time job, and I go to school. I try
to write every day, and manage to a lot
of the time, but life does get hectic as
everyone knows, and sometimes I don’t
get to. I do try though.
Q: What are you currently working
on?
A: Well, I have so many projects going
at the same time it’s ridiculous. What
usually happens is that I work on one
story, but then something pops in my
head, or I see something that inspires
me and I start on a brand new story. At
the moment I have three different
stories that I am working on; the second
story to the “Dimi of the Seven Moons”
series, the second story to the “Blood
Breed” series, and a single title
vampire tale.
Q: What inspires you?
A: It can be something as simple as a
smell or a song, a building, or even a
flower. You would be surprised how
inspirational small, simple things can
be when you open up your mind.
Q: What is something no one knows
about you?
A: Well, some people know this, but I
really don’t talk about it a lot. I have
OCD, and for everyone who isn’t familiar
with the abbreviation, it is Obsessive
Compulsive Disorder. OCD is an anxiety
disorder, which surprisingly enough is
very common. My earliest memory of
having OCD is when I was thirteen years
old. At the time I didn’t know why I had
to do certain things, like washing my hands a
certain number of times. It wasn’t
until I was seventeen years old that it
got so bad that I asked somebody why I
“had” to do these things. OCD is an
unusual disorder, and very interesting
in my opinion. I have learned to live
with OCD and I believe it has made me a
stronger person. We all have our
struggles in life, but in the end, if we
let them, they will make us a stronger
person.
Q: What advice would you give
aspiring writers?
A: Keep trying! Don’t give up on your
dream! It won’t be easy, and you will
probably get some rejections (everyone
does), but keep your head held high and
keep on submitting!
