ABOUT DIXIE LYNN
People seem to be more interested in my name than where I get
my ideas for my stories from. So I might as well share the story
behind my name with all my readers.
My momma was born and raised in New Orleans. At the age of
twenty, she met and fell in love with an Irishman named Patrick
Riley Dwyer. Needless to say, the family was a bit taken aback
by this as they hoped she would marry a family friend. It was a
modern day arranged marriage kind of thing and my momma
downright refused.
Being that my momma’s families were descendents of the
original English speaking southerners, they wanted the family
blood line to stay pure. They were wealthy and my father’s
family was poor.
Despite attempts by my grandpapa to make Patrick leave and
destroy the love between them, my parents married. They recently
celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary.
I am one of six children born to Patrick and Lynn Dwyer. I am
a combination of both Irish and a true southern belle. With a
name like Dixie Lynn Dwyer it’s no wonder why people are curious
about my name.
Just as my parents had a love story of their own, I grew up
intrigued by the lifestyles of others. My imagination as well as
my need to stray from the straight and narrow made me into the
woman I am today.
Enjoy Were She Belongs and allow your imagination to
soar freely.
INTERVIEW
Q. What is a typical day like for you?
A. I usually wake up around 5:00 a.m. to walk my dogs, have a
cup of coffee, put on a load of wash and catch the news either
online or on television. Then I begin writing. Depending on
where I am in a story I either edit, do some research online to
add authenticity to the story or I simply type away, creating
the story. I do this until the kids wake up and my regular day
begins. By 10:00 p.m., the kids are asleep, kitchen cleaned,
laundry put away and I have another hour or two of writing in
me.
Q. What would you say was the defining thing/person
that encouraged you to pursue writing as a career?
A. I would have to say my husband. It was his idea for me to
submit my first erotic romance, WERE SHE BELONGS, for possible
publication. After seeing me dedicate so much time in research
and writing my stories he said I should try to get them
published. Of course I was a bit timid about the process and
trying to submit, but he was insistent. My husband is kind of
like Saber in the story. He is stubborn, demanding, a big,
muscular guy but always compassionate when it comes to loving me
and our children. Six kids later, I wouldn’t change a thing
about him.
Q. Why do you like to write erotic romance?
A. I am a passionate person. I give a hundred percent in
everything I do. A good erotic romance tells a story about
finding love, surviving barriers while falling in love and shows
that love conquers all. That’s pretty intense, so why limit or
censor the acts of making love. If a story teller can show the
emotion, the bond and depth of characters’ then they shouldn’t
skimp on the consummation of the love. It makes the story
stronger and is the icing on the cake.
Q. Where do you get your ideas from?
A. The creative mind is such a wonderful and mysterious
thing. I have gotten many of my ideas by observing people and
places around me. I could take one little action like someone
tripping and a stranger grabbing them before they fell and turn
it into a whole story behind the two individuals. I used to
think that everyone noticed these types of things and behaviors
around them. But after whispering comments to my husband and
friends about what I noticed or thought they would look at me
strangely. Most of the time they hadn’t even seen what I had or
they thought nothing of it. It’s pretty crazy because sometimes
I don’t have enough time to write things down or complete my
ideas.
Q. Do you carry a tape recorder or notebook with you?
A. I do carry a notebook in my pocketbook, and I have a
recorder by my bed. Many times I have awoken in the middle of
the night to record my thoughts. I have gotten many ideas at
night. The recorder is accessible and easy to use when I’m tired
and don’t want to open my eyes but I need to get my thoughts
down. Other times I have been so inspired to write that I would
get up and tip toe downstairs to write on the computer. Those
are the days that are the most tiring but also the most
productive.
Q. Are you working on other stories now?
A. Yes. I have been working on another romance story and
hoping to get published by Siren-BookStrand again.
