EXCERPT
Byron watched
Christina Langely walk away. All of his predatory instincts were
in full gear. He hadn't anticipated such a find. What an
unexpected but welcome temptation. Christina reminded him of one
of Ruben's paintings, her body was lush and curvaceous with big

wanted nothing to do with him. The thrill of the chase always

expression. "What did you say?"
"You looked
distracted." She narrowed her eyes. "What were you thinking
about?"
He couldn't
resist looking her up and down. "Truthfully? I was sidetracked
by you." He squared his shoulders. "I'm direct, and I'm sorry if
this shocks you, but I'd love to get to know you better. Much
better. Are you seeing anyone?"
She sat down
across from him and bit her lower lip, considering his question,
before she hastily placed a bakery bag in front of him and
quickly drew away. Skittish.
"No, I'm
single." Her chin tilted, as though daring him to mock her for
being single. Truthfully, he was relieved. He didn't need a
complicated romantic entanglement. Two adults scratching a
sexual itch sounded right to him.
"Then, why
don't you come to the movies with me tonight?"
A flush
spread over her cheeks. He wondered if it extended lower, down
her neck, across her lush breasts. "I don't date coworkers."
