ABOUT CORINNE
Corinne
Davies first put pen to paper in an
attempt to write a love story between
her and her favourite rock singer of the
time. It was filled with all the angst
that only a teenager can come up with
and, of course, an incredible wardrobe.
Years later, during the wee hours of the
morning, when her first daughter
insisted on waking up, she discovered
online RPGs and her love of writing
emerged again. After many encouraging
words from fellow writers, she decided
to try her hand at developing her own
stories, learning it takes more than
mind blowing sex and a happily ever
after to make a great story.
By day, she is a full-time wife, mother,
and product consultant. At night, she
avoids such mundane tasks as housework
and laundry by creating her own worlds
where mythology comes to life. Worlds in
which you are just as likely to be
living next door to an ancient Deity as
finding an mystic treasure in the attic.
INTERVIEW
Q: What inspired you to take on the
legends of the gods?
A: I have loved mythology for a long as
I can remember. I think it might have
something to do with Clash of the
Titans, which was one of my favourite
movies when I was younger.
Q: How do you juggle the demands
of family and career versus writing?
A: I'm still trying to figure all that
out. I do a lot of writing after my
girls are in bed. My husband and I watch
a lot of our favourite shows on DVD,
that way we can watch them when we want.
He’s incredibly supportive, so when I am
brain deep in a story he takes care of
everything else.
Q: What do you do when you aren’t
writing?
A: I taste wine for a living. Yes, it’s
a hard job but someone needs to do it.
*G* I’m also a mother to two girls, and
wife to an incredibly supportive husband
(who is a much better cook then me,
thank the gods).
Q: Are you a pantster or plotter?
A: I always considered myself a pantster.
I got to know my characters by writing
about them and seeing what they would
do. Lately, I have found myself plotting
out my stories a bit more. Can you be
both?
Q: How do you go from an idea to a
finished book?
A: A lot of wine? Just kidding. I don’t
write in sequence. Usually I have an
idea of what I want to happen in a story
and I’ll start by writing out those
scenes and then fill in what happened
between.
Q: Five items on a desert island.
What would you bring?
A: My MP3 player. (I love music but
can’t sing a note. If I was on a
deserted island, I could sing as long
and loud as I want and no one would
complain.)
B.O.B. (I’m all alone with no
interruptions? Why not?)
Paper. Pencils. Lots of bottles. (I have
to get my next book to my publisher
somehow.)
Q: What do you find the sexiest thing
about a man?
A: Upper arms. Not bulging muscles by
any means but when a man lifts something
(or swings a sword) and you can see the
muscle definition? Yummy, love it.
