ABOUT COOPER
Cooper

born a hundred years too late, but
appreciates air conditioning, computers
and other conveniences of modern day
living. She enjoys the slower pace of
New Bern, North Carolina as well as the
history and small town community found
there. In addition to dreaming up her
next story, Cooper enjoys reading
everything except scary books, singing
in her church choir and needle-weaving.
INTERVIEW
Q: How long have you been writing
romance?
A: I think I wrote my first romance at
age 14, but I don’t remember much about
it. After many years of writing for
children and young adults, I started
writing erotic romance in January 2009.
Q: Do you get writer’s block?
A: I used to, but not any more. I’m too
busy to be blocked. But if I get stuck
it means I have to go back a page or two
and figure out where I took a wrong
turn.
Q: Do you plan your stories before
you start writing?
A: No way. I tried that early in my
writing career and found that I turned
my characters into stick figures and my
stories had no zing. All I have to have
before I start writing is a working
title, an idea who my main characters
are and the opening sentence. Once I
have an opening sentence I start writing
and it all flows from there, though I
have no idea where it’s flowing from.
Q: What’s your day job?
A: I am a home-based medical
transcriptionist. That means I type
doctor reports for a hospital 60 miles
from my home.
Q: What do you do when you are not
writing?
A: I haven’t had much of that time
lately, but usually I read, walk my 13
pound rat terror, Grizzly, and make
hats. I make "baseball cover" size hats
for babies, which I donate to a number
of hospitals, and hats for kids of all
sizes that I donate to a number of
charitable organizations.
